Van Types
cheat sheet
What van is right for you?
Here are some questions and considerations as you look for your dream van.
- Off-roading capabilities: Both Sprinter and Transit have great options
- Budget and availability: Check out Transit or RWD Sprinter
- Fuel type: For Diesel, you’ll want a Sprinter. For gas, look at the Transit.
- Compatibility with common accessories: Sprinter is the classic #vanlife van, but Transit is now a close second
- Space vs Maneuverability: The standard wheelbases (Sprinter 144″ and Transit 148″) offer less interior room but easily fit in a city parking space. Longer/extended wheelbases (Sprinter 170″ and Transit 148″ ext) fit more features but require more space and are more difficult to maneuver
